After Frustrating Democratic Primary, Millions of Ballots in California Remain Uncounted

– CommonDreams.org

bern1

The uncounted ballots would put the total number of voters at around 8.5 million, or around 47 percent of all registered voters

“More than 2.5 million ballots from California’s June 7 primary are still uncounted, sparking questions about the results of the presidential contest in which Hillary Clinton emerged the winner and leaving the fate of local races in the air as poll workers continue to grapple with reports of voter difficulties.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the uncounted ballots would put the total voter turnout at around 8.5 million, or around 47 percent of all registered voters. While the results are unlikely to impact Clinton’s win in the state, Bernie Sanders said Thursday he expected the final tally would show a closer race—one more in keeping with polls that predicted a nail-biter.

“I look forward to the full counting of the votes in California, which I suspect will show a much closer vote than the current vote tally,” Sanders said after a meeting with President Barack Obama, who then went on to endorse Clinton.

Los Angeles County, which on Tuesday voted 57 percent for Clinton versus 42 for Sanders, reported more unprocessed ballots than any region at roughly 616,000. San Diego County, where Clinton won 55 percent to Sanders’ 44, had 285,000 uncounted ballots.

Many of those were ‘provisional’ ballots, which are given to voters whose party registration cannot be determined on the day of the election. The LA Times wrote on Tuesday:

Instead of a quick in-and-out vote, many California voters were handed the dreaded pink provisional ballot — which takes longer to fill out, longer for election officials to verify and which tends to leave voters wondering whether their votes will be counted…. hundreds of Californians complained of voting problems to the national nonpartisan voter hotline run by the Lawyers’ Committee For Civil Rights Under Law.

Dissatisfaction with the voting system has become widespread this election cycle, as Sanders supporters rail against convoluted election rules and his treatment by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the corporate media, which came under fire earlier this week for claiming Clinton had clinched the party’s nomination before Californians—and voters in five other states—even had a chance to cast their ballots.

But as Freedom of the Press Foundation co-founder Trevor Timm wrote in an op-ed on Wednesday, it’s not just the Sanders supporters who feel disenfranchised by the system. “Virtually every major campaign in both parties griped about how the other was winning at some point during this campaign, and along the way almost all of them were right,” he wrote.”

Bernie Sanders Wins California Landslide But 2/3 of his Votes Aren’t Counted

– justicegazette.org

june7 election

June 7, 2016.  California.  The Justice Gazette reporters and others are conducting an investigation into voting irregularities and the theft of Bernie Sanders’s apparent California landslide victory by those supporting Hillary Clinton.  According to popular actress Frances Fisher, a lawsuit is being prepared to require the counting of all the provisional ballots.  If this lawsuit is successful, the actual vote count is expected to become known and Sanders will likely have a landslide victory in California.

The theft of California hasn’t deterred Sanders from his course.  He has promised to fight on while noting it is a steep uphill climb.   Given all the states where vote fraud in favor of Hillary Clinton has been allowed to swing primaries from Sanders to Clinton, it is in fact a steep uphill climb to restore democracy and force the now undemocratic Democratic Party to nominate the man the vast majority of American voters  have voted for or tried to vote for.

It has been learned from poll workers that 50% to 90% of voters who were supposed to have been eligible to vote in the Democratic primary were told they would have to vote provisional ballots.

There were two irregularities leading to the forced use of provisional ballots instead of regular ballots.  The first was that previously registered voters’ names had been removed from the rolls.  The second was that someone (in most cases, not the voter) had marked them as vote by mail voters but they had received no ballot in the mail.   Oddly, virtually all of those not allowed to vote and forced to vote provisional ballots were Bernie Sanders supporters.

The next oddity is even more curious.  Poll workers in Los Angeles and Orange County report that Bernie won the electronic votes in their precincts by well over a 2 to 1 margin, the opposite of the result of the vote count.  The contrast between this and the outcome is indicative of vote-flipping.  Also the outcome.. outcome does not match what anyone who has conducted polling in this state knows:  Below the election night video is a video about black box voting (Hacking Democracy) ,   The Democratic Party has essentially endorsed this video, showing it at various conventions and another video of a computer programmer confessing to creating a vote-flipping program.”

The Challenges of Digital Voting

– Scientific American

Information security expert Avi Rubin explains why we won’t be voting on our smartphones anytime soon

“In researching my Scientific American column about the dismal prospects for online voting, I interviewed Avi Rubin, Professor of Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University, technical director of Johns Hopkins’s Information Security Institute, and author of Brave New Ballot: The Battle to Safeguard Democracy in the Age of Electronic Voting. He’s been deeply immersed in the research surrounding electronic voting for decades.

Since I have more room on the Web than I do on the printed page, I would like to share more of our conversation here.

David Pogue: Are there any steps that would make you, a security researcher, comfortable with electronic voting?

Avi Rubin: In principle, I think that paper ballots are far superior to electronic voting machines. Even if the machines are high quality (and none of the current ones on the market have proven to be that), the inability to manually recount, to audit, and to prevent rigging and the potential for widespread, wholesale fraud are deal breakers for purely electronic voting. Paper ballots are not a panacea, but without them there is an opportunity for fraud that is much more widespread.

DP: What if the software in these machines is open source and can be inspected publicly?

AR: Just because software is open source does not mean that it will be subjected to many eyeballs. Voting machine software should most definitely be made publicly available, but we need to realize that it may still have security vulnerabilities. Furthermore, it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to have an assurance the actual bits that are running inside of a voting machine on election day match the software that was publicly available.

DP: What if voters could look over a printed receipt before leaving the electronic machine?

AR: A voter-inspected paper record can overcome many of the weaknesses of electronic voting. There is no perfect voting system, but the best one that I know is where a touchscreen ballot marking machine is used for voters to make their selections. The machine then prints out a filled-out paper ballot. The voter takes this ballot, inspects it, challenges it and starts over if it is wrong (and reports it), and when a correct ballot is produced, submits it to the polls where it can be optically scanned.

Some random sample of ballot boxes is counted manually and compared to the scanned results, and if there are problems, more stations are manually compared. In case of a very close election or any hint of foul play, the ballots can be counted by hand or by a different brand of optical scanner.

We will never get this perfect. It’s too hard a problem. But we can do a lot better than we have so far.

DP: Seems like the prospect of voting by smartphone would be even more vulnerable than the in-person methods, right?

AR: Yes, voting over the Internet or smartphones is a non-starter. You can’t control the security of the platform. Remember that you don’t even trust the manufacturer of the voting system. You don’t want to put control of the outcome of a presidential election in the hands of Samsung or Apple, or millions of app developers.”

Clinton Foundation Donations Tied to Big Middle East Arms Deals | June 2016

Hillary Clinton Foundation is the Nexus of Evil for Murderous Middle East Arms Deals including Qatar

– International Business Times

EDIT2-Hill-051216-AP-768x432

“…..The monarchy in Qatar had similarly been chastised by the State Department for a raft of human rights abuses. But that country donated to the Clinton Foundation while Hillary Clinton was running the State Department. During the three full budgetary years of her tenure, Qatar saw a 14-fold increase in State Department authorizations for direct commercial sales of military equipment and services, as compared to the same time period in Bush’s second term. The department also approved the Pentagon’s separate $750 million sale of multi-mission helicopters to Qatar. That deal would additionally employ as contractors three companies that have all supported the Clinton Foundation over the years: United Technologies, Lockheed Martin and General Electric.

Clinton foundation donor countries that the State Department criticized for human rights violations and that received weapons export authorizations did not respond to IBTimes’ questions.

That group of arms manufacturers — along with Clinton Foundation donors Boeing, Honeywell, Hawker Beechcraft and their affiliates — were together listed as contractors in 114 such deals while Clinton was secretary of state. NBC put Chelsea Clinton on its payroll as a network correspondent in November 2011, when it was still 49 percent owned by General Electric. A spokesperson for General Electric did not respond to questions from IBTimes.

The other companies all asserted that their donations had nothing to do with the arms export deals.

“Our contributions have aligned with our longstanding philanthropic commitments,” said Honeywell spokesperson Rob Ferris.

“Even The Appearance Of A Conflict”

During her Senate confirmation proceedings in 2009, Hillary Clinton declared that she and her husband were “committed to ensuring that his work does not present a conflict of interest with the duties of Secretary of State.” She pledged “to protect against even the appearance of a conflict of interest between his work and the duties of the Secretary of State” and said that “in many, if not most cases, it is likely that the Foundation or President Clinton will not pursue an opportunity that presents a conflict.”

Even so, Bill Clinton took in speaking fees reaching $625,000 at events sponsored by entities that were dealing with Hillary Clinton’s State Department on weapons issues.

In 2011, for example, the former president was paid $175,000 by the Kuwait America Foundation to be the guest of honor and keynote speaker at its annual awards gala, which was held at the home of the Kuwaiti ambassador. Ben Affleck spoke at the event, which featured a musical performance by Grammy-award winner Michael Bolton. The gala was emceed by Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, hosts of MSNBC’s Morning Joe show. Boeing was listed as a sponsor of the event, as were the embassies of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar — the latter two of which had donated to the Clinton Foundation while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state.”

Report: 60 Percent of Qatar’s Population Lives in ‘Labor Camps’

– Breitbart

qatar-labor-camps-migrants-ap-640x480

“Statistics recently released by the government of Qatar indicate 58 percent of people in the country live in government-designated “labor camps,” highly-monitored neighborhoods designed to control the movement of migrant workers.

The Agence-France Presse (AFP) cites Qatar’s Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics, which recently released numerous infographics and a longer report on the nation’s population. The report notes that 1.4 million people, most male, in Qatar live in labor camps — or government-designated worker housing complexes — as of April 2015. The population of Qatar has since increased by about 100,000 largely due to its recruitment of foreign workers.

Qatar boasts one of the largest per capita foreign laborer populations in the world and was recently ranked fifth by the Global Slavery Index due to the harrowing conditions many of the nation’s laborers must face upon arriving in the country. According to Qatar’s profile in the index, a population of 30,300 people can be confirmed to be living in slavery in Qatar, most foreign workers from southeast Asia, particularly India.

Foreign workers looking to get jobs in Qatar often must pay “recruiters” to help them find a job to begin with, typically needing to borrow money to pay off the recruiter. Once they are hired, they spend most, if not all, of their salaries trying to repay this debt at high interest rates. “Between the recruitment fees, the interest rates and the fact that their wages, even when paid in full, are often substantially lower than the level misrepresented to them when accepting the job, many workers are completely unable to escape the cycle of debt,” the Global Slavery Index notes.”

Is Hillary Clinton World’s Evilest Arms Dealer Ever? Maybe!

– Wonkette

hc28

“At last, a Hillary Clinton ZOMGgate story that might actually be a thing! (Or might not. You never know with those wily Clintons, which is why it’s generally best to assume guilty until proven otherwise.) According to an exhaustive trillion-word report by the International Business Times, the Clinton State Department authorized approximately eleventeen metric fucktons of defense contracts between corporations and countries that, coincidentally uh huh sure right, happened to donate a whole bunch of money to the Clinton Foundation and to Bill Clinton (that’s her husband) for doing his high-priced speechifying thing:

In all, governments and corporations involved in the arms deals approved by Clinton’s State Department have delivered between $54 million and $141 million to the Clinton Foundation as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars in payments to the Clinton family, according to foundation and State Department records.

It just so happens that some of those countries who were allowed to get their hands on some sweet, sweet weapons were also on the official United States Naughty List of Countries That Are Naughty, like Algeria and Qatar, who were condemned by the State Department while Clinton was secretary of it, for sucking super hard at human rights, and for things like “widespread corruption” and “arbitrary killing.” And yet they were allowed to buy all kinds of military hardware and chemical agents and other goodies. Plus there was a $29 billion — yes, with a “b” — deal to sell fighter jets to Saudi Arabia, which is supposed to be our pal in the Middle East even though its human rights abuses are pretty bad too, but the Saudis give us all that oil we need, so we just sort of ignore their naughty stuff. And yet all of those countries, who happened to have given money to the Clinton Foundation, were permitted to buy stuff from defense contractors who also happened to give money to the Clinton Foundation, HMMMMMMMMMM. Coincidence? Maybe. Or maybe not. But maybe?

Just before Hillary Clinton became Secretary of State, the Clinton Foundation signed an agreement generally obligating it to disclose to the State Department increases in contributions from its existing foreign government donors and any new foreign government donors. Those increases were to be reviewed by an official at the State Department and “as appropriate” the White House counsel’s office. According to available disclosures, officials at the State Department and White House raised no issues about potential conflicts related to arms sales.

IBT has long lists of names and dollar figures, if you wanna get super nerdy about it, to see just how many millions of dollars flowed to the Clinton Foundation from the same corporations that then got to sell their war-making wares to countries we maybe don’t want to arm, like Algeria and Qatar and Australia. Wait, do we care if Australia has weapons? Unclear.

And then there are some law professors and ethics experts who say that OK,maybe Billary did not technically do anything bad or wrong, but it sure looks suspicious, and that’s kind of a problem, because you don’t want your secretary of state or your madam president (ahem) getting super rich off deals that look suspicious, even if they are technically kosher. Which is, as always, the problem with the Clintons, SIGH. Even if there’s no there there, they sure do a heckuva job making it look like there’s a there there, and then the entire U.S. government has to stop dead in its tracks to do investigations and subpoenas and hearings, forever and ever and EVER, to look at the there thatmight be there, to figure out whether the there that might be there is there after all. SIGH again.”

Hillary Wears $12,000 Suit During Income Inequality Speech

– PJ Media

In progressive circles, it’s always been fashionable to lash out at the rich. Progressives try to paint themselves as men and women of the people. The thing is, most of the time, they’re not. Especially when they can drop more on an article of clothing than most can afford to spend on a car.

Hillary Clinton wore a jacket that costs more than $12,000 when she discussed income inequality and other economic issues following her victory in the New York Primary earlier this year.

According to the New York PostClinton sported the $12,495 Giorgio Armani jacket when delivering remarks in New York City in April after defeating competitor Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) in her home-state primary.

The price of the jacket constitutes roughly 40 percent of what the average American worker makes in a year.”

State Department Says Emails From Hillary’s IT Guru Are Missing

– PJMedia

AP_237660358401-1.sized-770x415xt

“This just keeps getting curiouser and curiouser.

The State Department says that emails from Bryan Pagliano, the man who set up Hillary Clinton’s private email server and who served as Clinton’s IT expert while she was secretary of State, have gone missing. They say they are continuing to look for them.

Pagliano has been cooperating with the FBI in the Clinton email scandal after getting immunity from the Justice Department.

ABC News:

The Department has searched for Mr. Pagliano’s email pst file and has not located one that covers the time period of Secretary Clinton’s tenure,” State Department spokesman Elizabeth Trudeau said today, referencing a file format that holds email.

“To be clear, the Department does have records related to Mr. Pagliano and we are working with Congress and [Freedom of Information Act] requesters to provide relevant material. The Department has located a pst from Mr. Pagliano’s recent work at the Department as a contractor, but the files are from after Secretary Clinton left the Department,” Trudeau added.

This statement about Pagliano’s email comes in response to a FOIA request-turned-lawsuit by the Republican National Committee, which wants the State Department to turn over all his emails as well as Clinton’s text and Blackberry Messenger communications. In a court filing today, the RNC said the State Department has told them there are no documents responsive to either of those requests.

Pagliano was responsible for setting up the now-infamous private server in the basement of the Clinton’s home in Chappaqua, New York. He has since become a key witness in the FBI inquiry into the handling of sensitive material on that server and has been granted immunity by the Justice Department in exchange for his cooperation.

“It’s hard to believe that an IT staffer who set up Hillary Clinton’s reckless email server never sent or received a single work-related email in the four years he worked at the State Department,” the RNC’s Deputy Communications Director, Raj Shah, said in a statement to ABC News. “Such records might shed light on his role in setting up Clinton’s server, and why he was granted immunity by the FBI. But it seems that his emails were either destroyed or never turned over, adding yet another layer to the secrecy surrounding his role.”

I’m sure that all of us are heartily sick and tired of all these “coincidences” getting in the way of the investigation. Missing emails, “accidentally” deleted emails, foggy memories, stonewalling by the State Department — gee. If I didn’t know any better I’d suspect they were trying to hide something.”

REPORT: Hillary’s Emails Hacked by Russia – Kremlin Deciding Whether to Release 20,000 Stolen Emails

– theGatewaypundit.com

hc25

The Kremlin is debating whether to release the 20,000 emails they have hacked off of Hillary Clinton’s server.

According to a report from four days ago, beginning in 2011, the Russians began monitoring Romanian computer hacker Marcel Lazăr Lehel (aka Guccifer) after he attempted, unsuccessfully, to break into the computer system of the Russian funded RT television network.

After monitoring Guccifer, the Russians were reportedly able to record (both physically and electronically) his actions which allowed the Russian intelligence analysts, in 2013, to not only detect his breaking into the private computer of Secretary Clinton, but also break in and copy all of its contents as well.

The report notes that shortly after Russia obtained Clinton’s emails, they released a limited amount to RT TV which were published in an article in March 2013, titled Hillary Clinton’s ‘hacked’ Benghazi emails: FULL RELEASE.

Apparently no Western journalists promoted this story in 2013.

A couple of years later, in 2016, the US then brought in Guccifer for questioning related to this incident.  According to the report, NBC news knew why Guccifer was being questioned but withheld this information from the American public.

The Associated Press reported in October 2015 that “Hillary Clinton’s private email server maintained in her home while serving as secretary of State was possibly hacked by Russia-tied authorities, and others, on five separate occasions.”

The AP report noted that investigators discovered among Clinton’s cache of released emails malicious software aimed at transmitting data to three overseas computers, including at least one in Russia. This malicious software was reportedly activated by clicking on it; but in October it was not clear if Clinton actually opened these messages or not, per the AP.

Recently separate reports have come out noting that Guccifer had indeed hacked Clinton’s emails.  Now according to this latest report, Clinton’s server was not only compromised by Guccifer but also by Russia. Guccifer told FOX News last week that he hacked Hillary’s homebrew server and so did at least 10 others.”

Clinton IT aide’s placement at State Dept confused State Dept IT workers

– Washington Examiner

“New State Department documents suggest officials in the agency’s technology office were confused as to why a political appointee, Bryan Pagliano, was being placed in their office by State leadership.

Pagliano had served on Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign since 2006, according to a copy of his resume included among the documents. Clinton’s staff worked with Patrick Kennedy, undersecretary for management, to have Pagliano assigned to the State Department’s IT office through political channels.

On his resume, Pagliano noted that he had managed “discrete projects” for Clinton. Investigators later discovered the former Clinton aide set up and operated a private server through which she routed all government communications.

The documents, obtained by Judicial Watch through the Freedom of Information Act, came one day after the State Department denied having any emails sent to or by Pagliano despite the fact that he was employed at the agency for four years.

Pagliano has reportedly accepted an immunity deal with the FBI in exchange for information about the server as the bureau investigates whether classified information was placed in jeopardy during Clinton’s tenure.”

Hillary’s Clueless ‘Off the Reservation’ Remark | May 2016

The Ugly Truth about the US treatment of Native Americans and Hillary Clinton’s ‘Off the Reservation’ comment

– CNN Opinion

A timely opinion piece by Simon Moya-Smith on CNN:

“Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton was being interviewed on CNN’s “The Lead” with Jake Tapper when she used a blistering term rooted in racism against Native Americans to describe Donald Trump, the leading Republican presidential candidate.

“I have a lot of experience dealing with men who sometimes get off the reservation in the way they behave and how they speak,” Clinton told Tapper.
Within hours, Clinton’s political director, Amanda Renteria, took to Twitter saying Clinton “meant no disrespect to Native Americans.”

Simon Moya-Smith

“About the use of an expression today that has some very offensive roots. … Divisive language has no place in our politics,” Renteria tweeted.
But here’s the problem with Renteria’s words: The phrase has nothing but very offensive roots.
In the 19th century, the U.S. government forcibly confined Native Americans (who, according to a New York Times article at the time, were considered “shiftless, untameable … a rampant and intractable enemy to civilization”) into prison camps, known today as reservations. None were permitted to leave the boundaries without permission from their white captors.
This, folks, is called forced imprisonment.
In fact, Adolf Hitler was inspired by the American reservation system.
John Toland, author of “Adolf Hitler: The Definitive Biography,” wrote that the tyrant and mass murderer thought the U.S. reservation system was a useful template for Jewish concentration camps.
“Hitler’s concept of concentration camps as well as the practicality of genocide owed much, so he claimed, to his studies of English and United States history,” wrote Toland. “He admired the camps for Boer prisoners in South Africa and for the Indians in the Wild West; and often praised to his inner circle the efficiency of America’s extermination — by starvation and uneven combat — of the red savages who could not be tamed by captivity.”
On Monday, Trump had a response to Clinton’s “off the reservation” comment: “The Indians have gone wild” over her use of it.
“Now I won’t even bring up the fact that the Indians have gone wild on that statement. You know that, OK. The Indians have said that that statement is a disastrous statement, and they want a retraction. I’m not going to get into that,” Trump told CNN’s Chris Cuomo on “New Day.”

Bernie Sanders pulls off shock victory over Hillary Clinton in Indiana

– Guardian

4235

“Despite trailing behind Hillary Clinton in polls, Sanders once again proved his appeal to disaffected midwest voters by pulling off his 18th victory of 2016.

Bernie Sanders threw a last-minute hurdle in front of Hillary Clinton’s march toward the Democratic party nomination on Tuesday by clinching a surprise victory in the Indiana primary.

Despite trailing by an average of seven points in opinion polls and losing a string of bigger, more diverse states on the east coast, Sanders once again proved his appeal to disaffected midwest voters by pulling off his 18th victory of 2016, according to Associated Press projections.

Sanders seemed on track to win a narrow majority of the 83 delegates on offer. With 93% reporting, Sanders had 52.7% of the vote to Clinton’s 47.3%.

Sanders said: “The Clinton campaign thinks this campaign is over. They’re wrong. Maybe it’s over for the insiders and the party establishment, but the voters inIndiana had a different idea.”

His success in Indiana was overshadowed by Ted Cruz’s decision to drop out of the Republican race, leaving the path to victory clear for Donald Trump.

The Sanders campaign hopes that Indiana will mark one last turning point in a Democratic race characterised by a series of surprise comebacks that have prolonged Clinton’s otherwise relentless path toward the nomination.

He is well placed to pull off similar wins in West Virginia on 10 May and Oregon on 17 May, before a final showdown next month in California, whose 546 delegates present the biggest prize of the contest.”
