“Homeland Security Sec. Kirstjen Nielsen confirmed on Tuesday that her agency has asked the Justice Department to look into policies that would allow for criminal charges against elected leaders who refuse to enforce federal immigration laws.
During a Senate Judiciary Committee oversight hearing, Nielsen said that a request has been submitted to DOJ for consideration.
“The Department of Justice is reviewing what avenues might be available,” Nielsen told California Sen. Kamala Harris.
Harris had asked Nielsen about comments made recently by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Tom Homan.”
Wordfence Casts Doubt On DHS/FBI Russian Hacking Report
“Code identified by the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Bureau of Investigation as being used by Russian intelligence services is an outdated malware developed by Ukrainians that can be downloaded online, according to a blog post by the founder of WordFence.
WordFence is a plug-in designed to protect users of WordPress that has been downloaded over 1 million times. The report released last Thursday by the DHS and FBI, titled “Grizzly Steppe,” contains a PHP malware sample which WordFence employees analyzed.
“Our security analysts spend a lot of time analyzing PHP malware, because WordPress is powered by PHP,” the blog post written by WordFence founder and CEO Mark Maunder said in a post Friday. “We used the PHP malware indicator of compromise (IOC) that DHS provided to analyze the attack data that we aggregate to try to find the full malware sample.”
WordFence was able to find the name of the malware and the version. Maunder said it is a malware called “P.A.S. 3.1.0.,” which was available for download on a site that is currently down.
The tech CEO wrote: “The PHP malware sample they have provided appears to be P.A.S. version 3.1.0 which is commonly available and the website that claims to have authored it says they are Ukrainian. It is also several versions behind the most current version of P.A.S which is 4.1.1b. One might reasonably expect Russian intelligence operatives to develop their own tools or at least use current malicious tools from outside sources.”
In a series of FAQs published Monday, Maunder continued to criticize the DHS/FBI report. He said TechFence reviewed IP addresses that the DHS said was behind hacking efforts and found that they “belong to over 380 organizations and many of those organizations are well known website hosting providers from where many attacks originate. There is nothing in the IP data that points to Russia specifically.”
Much of the evidence tying Russia to hacking efforts has been criticized by cyber security experts. One link tying Russia to the leaking of Democratic National Committee emails is that documents leaked by hacker Guccifer 2.0’s were modified by a user named Felix Dzerzhinsky, the man who founded the Soviet secret police.
Cybersecurity expert Jeffrey Carr wrote in a blog post, “OK. Raise your hand if you think that a GRU or FSB officer would add Iron Felix’s name to the metadata of a stolen document before he released it to the world while pretending to be a Romanian hacker.”
Without a trace: The techniques hackers use to evade capture
– Total Defense | Oct 2015
“Bjorn Sundin helped orchestrate a hacking scheme that led to the purchasing of over a million phony pieces of software, costing the victims a collective $100 million. Carlos Perez-Malara assisted in the development of spyware that monitored keystrokes and compiled personal data on unsuspecting targets. Peter Sahruvos was involved in a months-long virus-based attack that generated $2 million. But apart from all being cyber criminals who have benefited richly from their crimes, these three men share something else in common: They’re all still at large. And they’re hardly alone.
Cyber crime is a lucrative business not just because of the potential monetary return, but because it’s too often easy to get away with. Sometimes hackers get caught, but most of the time they don’t. Don’t take our word for it – just ask Kevin Mitnick, a hacking expert who is himself a former fugitive from (cyber) justice. Back in the early 1990s, Mitnick was Public Enemy Number One in the FBI’s cyber crime hunt. But, after getting captured in 1995 and serving five years in prison, he changed his ways and now helps the good guys by offering them the unique perspective of a reformed criminal hacker. Yet as Mitnick pointed out, the cyber criminal landscape has changed significantly since the 1990s – and most of the changes benefit those involved in virtual crime.
“With hacking, it’s much easier to commit the crime and the risk of punishment is slim to none,” Mitnick told The Huffington Post’s Gerry Smith. Plus, he added that hackers today reap the rewards of a more vulnerable digital world. “There’s a lot of information that is now available that could be used to compromise systems and networks that did not exist when I was a hacker.”
In Mitnick’s day, hacking was a solitary activity done out of, as he put it, “intellectual curiosity.” Today, it’s a global criminal practice that’s centered around the one element that ties all organized crime together: easy money. But the added advantage of cyber crime is that it’s carried out remotely, and is therefore a lot easier to get away with typically. And it’s not only that law enforcement officials find the process of catching cyber criminals inherently challenging – it’s that hackers themselves are deploying techniques to remain on the loose.”
DNS provider Dyn hit by DDoS attack that takes out major sites
“Twitter, GitHub, Etsy, Spotify, The New York Times and the Boston Globe were knocked offline
Some of the biggest names on the internet – including Twitter, GitHub, Etsy, Shopify, the New York Times and the Boston Globe, among many others – were temporarily knocked offline by a DDoS attack that targeted DNS provider Dyn early Friday morning.
DNS is the mechanism by which computers turn human-readable web addresses like www.networkworld.com into a numerical format that can be used to retrieve the actual web page. Dyn is a managed DNS provider – essentially, a phone book that computers use to correlate IP addresses to web page names.
Overloading the company’s services with a denial-of-service attack means that a lot of queries simply fail to resolve, so users get 404s and other errors instead of Twitter or Shopify. Dyn has posted a statement saying that the majority of the ill effects were felt in the Eastern U.S., and that the main impact is to its managed DNS customers in the area.
Network World’s own website was temporarily offline earlier this morning. There’s no word as yet about the perpetrators or motive for the DDoS attack.
Commenters on Reddit and HackerNews report being able to access some of the affected sites from the UK and Ireland, whether via VPN or otherwise. Other users on the western side of the Atlantic in Brazil reported outages similar to those on the U.S. east coast.”
– The Obama adminstration has had years to address the problem of digital attacks on the national digital infrastructure. The Pentagon, NSA and White House have been attacked on his watch. Yet nothing has been done to harden the nation. More incompetence and ineptitude as the threat continues, yet our government does little to prevent them. Instead VP Joe Biden seven days ago, threatened Russia with a Cyber attack. Coincidence? /CJ
Department of Homeland Security launches urgent investigation as massive ongoing series of cyber attacks take down thousands of sites
– Daily Mail UK
“A massive co-ordinated series of cyber attacks has forced hundreds of major websites from Amazon to Twitter offline across the globe.
The Department of Homeland Security launched an urgent investigation into the crash, amid claims it could be a precursor to an attempt to disrupt the US Presidential election.
Internet service company Dyn, which controls the ‘address book’ of the internet for dozens of major companies, said that it had suffered its first denial of service (DDoS) attack shortly after 6AM ET (11AM BST), in an attack that mostly affected the east coast of the US.
It confirmed a second attack at 1PM ET, which appeared to be centred on UK servers, and later said ‘several’ attacks were underway on servers across the globe, with the west coast being particularly badly hit.
The website Gizmodo said it had received reports of difficulty at sites for media outlets including CNN, The Guardian, Wired, HBO and People as well as the money transfer service PayPal.”
What We Know About Friday’s Massive East Coast Internet Outage
“FRIDAY MORNING IS prime time for some casual news reading, tweeting, and general Internet browsing, but you may have had some trouble accessing your usual sites and services this morning and throughout the day, from Spotify and Reddit to the New York Times and even good ol’ WIRED.com. For that, you can thank a distributed denial of service attack (DDoS) that took down a big chunk of the Internet for most of the Eastern seaboard.
This morning’s attack started around 7 am ET and was aimed at Dyn, an Internet infrastructure company headquartered in New Hampshire. That first bout was resolved after about two hours; a second attack began just before noon. Dyn reported a third wave of attacks a little after 4pm ET. In all cases, traffic to Dyn’s Internet directory servers throughout the US—primarily on the East Coast but later on the opposite end of the country as well—was stopped by a flood of malicious requests disrupting the system. Still ongoing, the situation is a definite reminder of the fragility of the web, and the power of the forces that aim to disrupt it.”
Obama Tells CIA To Prepare For Cyber War With Russia
In what is looking more and more like a season finale of the HBO series “House of Cards” with each passing day, the Obama administration is now literally threatening a cyber war with Russia over allegations it was behind the hacking of Clinton’s emails. According to an exclusive NBC report, the Obama administration “is contemplating an unprecedented cyber covert action” (though it’s unclear how exactly it’s covert if Biden is announcing it to the world via an interview with Chuck Todd) against Russia, in “retaliation for alleged” interference in the American presidential election, and has asked the CIA to draft plans for a “wide-ranging “clandestine” cyber operation designed to harass and “embarrass” the Kremlin leadership.”
So now the Obama administration is overtly leveraging the full power of the United States to intimidate foreign governments, and most likely Julian Assange, in order to maintain control of the Executive Branch of the government. Does anyone within the mainstream media see any problems with this? Certainly Chuck Todd and NBC do not. And notice that even the NBC article refers to “alleged” Russian interference because not a shred of evidence has been presented to prove that senior Russian officials were actually behind the hacking of Hillary’s emails…but who needs facts when you have a complicit media eager to advance whatever propaganda is necessary to maintain power?
Vice President Joe Biden told “Meet the Press” Chuck Todd on Friday that “we’re sending a message” to Putin and that “it will be at the time of our choosing, and under the circumstances that will have the greatest impact.”
When asked if the American public will know a message was sent, the vice president replied, “Hope not.”

NSA website recovers from outage amid intrigue
– Politico | Aug 2016
“The National Security Agency’s website was offline for almost a full day until Tuesday evening, in an unexplained outage that began shortly after hackers claimed to have stolen a collection of the agency’s prized cyber weapons.
It’s unknown if the two events are connected.
POLITICO first noticed that the agency’s website wasn’t working at 10:54 p.m. Monday. It came back online around 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The outage began a few hours after a mysterious group called the Shadow Brokers claimed to have stolen cyber weapons from the Equation Group, a sophisticated hacking group suspected of being linked to the NSA. Some cybersecurity experts, as well as fugitive NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, suggested that the alleged thefts may be connected to the uproar over suspected Russian cyber spying on the Democratic Party — but no information has surfaced to link the two, or to connect the alleged thefts with the NSA website outage.
During the outage, the NSA homepage itself was accessible, but all links on the page led to “Service Unavailable” error pages, except for blog posts listed under the “What’s New” section. (Those may be hosted on another server.)
An NSA spokesman declined to comment on the record about the outage, as did a spokesman for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. A spokesman for the Department of Defense, which also oversees the NSA, said he would look into the issue, but did not follow up with any information.
The White House referred POLITICO to the NSA.
An unnamed source told FedScoop that the outage was due to an ongoing “internal review.”
The Shadow Brokers’ claims to have stolen the Equation Group’s hacking tools had stirred much intrigue earlier Monday, especially when the Shadow Brokers said they were willing to sell them. The security firm Kaspersky has linked the Equation Group to digital intrusion techniques widely associated with the NSA.
Regardless of how the Shadow Brokers obtained the files — if in fact they’re real — the thieves have been holding onto their merchandise for a while, as POLITICO’s Morning Cybersecurity noted Tuesday. One of the leaked tools exploits a vulnerability from 2006.
Capital Alpha Security CEO Matt Tait hypothesized that the hackers acquired the files a long time ago and saved them for a future purpose. If so, he said, their recent unveiling — along with Monday’s release of a fresh batch of stolen Democratic documents — may be designed to hit back at the NSA for some behind-the-scenes action the agency took in response to the DNC hack.
Snowden also speculated about a connection, calling it “unprecedented” for anyone to publicize this kind of attack on the agency.
“Why did they do it? No one knows, but I suspect this is more diplomacy than intelligence, related to the escalation around the DNC hack,” Snowden wroteTuesday on Twitter. He added that “circumstantial evidence and conventional wisdom indicates Russian responsibility,” and said it may be an attempt to warn the NSA that the dispute “could get messy fast.”
Secret Code Found in Juniper’s Firewalls Shows Risk of Govt Internet Back Doors
– Wired | Dec 2015
“ENCRYPTION BACKDOORS HAVE been a hot topic in the last few years—and the controversial issue got even hotter after the terrorist attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, when it dominated media headlines. It even came up during this week’s Republican presidential candidate debate. But despite all the attention focused on backdoors lately, no one noticed that someone had quietly installed backdoors three years ago in a core piece of networking equipment used to protect corporate and government systems around the world.
The first backdoor Juniper found would give an attacker administrative-level or root privileges over the firewalls—essentially the highest-level of access on a system—when accessing the firewalls remotely via SSH or telnet channels. “Exploitation of this vulnerability can lead to complete compromise of the affected system,” Juniper noted.
The second backdoor would effectively allow an attacker who has already intercepted VPN traffic passing through the Juniper firewalls to decrypt the traffic without knowing the decryption keys. Juniper said that it had no evidence that this vulnerability had been exploited, but also noted that, “There is no way to detect that this vulnerability was exploited.”

More than 800 Criminal Immigrants mistakenly granted US Citizenship
– Yahoo News
IG’s report said fingerprints are missing from federal databases for as many as 315,000 immigrants with final deportation orders or who are fugitive criminals.
“WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. government has mistakenly granted citizenship to at least 858 immigrants from countries of concern to national security or with high rates of immigration fraud who had pending deportation orders, according to an internal Homeland Security audit released Monday.
The Homeland Security Department’s inspector general found that the immigrants used different names or birthdates to apply for citizenship with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and such discrepancies weren’t caught because their fingerprints were missing from government databases.
DHS said in an emailed statement that an initial review of these cases suggest that some of the individuals may have ultimately qualified for citizenship, and that the lack of digital fingerprint records does not necessarily mean they committed fraud.
The report does not identify any of the immigrants by name, but Inspector General John Roth’s auditors said they were all from “special interest countries” — those that present a national security concern for the United States — or neighboring countries with high rates of immigration fraud. The report did not identify those countries.”

Report: 858 People Got US Citizenship When They Should Have Been Deported
– Daily Caller
“U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services granted U.S. citizenship to at least 858 individuals who had been ordered deported or removed under another identity, a report released Monday found.
The individuals had been previously deported and had again entered the U.S. illegally, giving authorities a different name when they were obtained. According to the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General, these individuals were not flagged by the digital fingerprint repositories at DHS and the Federal Bureau of Investigation because paper-based fingerprint cards used before 2008 were not reliably digitized and uploaded into the repository.
About 148,000 fingerprint records of illegal aliens from special interest countries who had final deportation orders or who are criminals or fugitives have not been digitized and uploaded to a repository, according to the report.
The FBI repository is missing these records because fingerprint records collected from immigration enforcement encounters were not consistently sent to the bureau.
The inspector general found out that at least three individuals who became naturalized citizens after deportation under another name had received credentials “to conduct security-sensitive work at commercial airports or maritime facilities and vessels. Since being identified, all have had their credentials revoked.”
DHS has also investigated “very few” of these persons to find out if they should be denaturalized or criminally prosecuted, the report noted.
“This situation created opportunities for individuals to gain the rights and privileges of U.S. citizenship through fraud,” said Inspector General John Roth. “To prevent fraud and ensure thorough review of naturalization applications, USCIS needs access to these fingerprint records.”
Trump on terrorists: ‘We’re allowing these people to come in’
– The Hill
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Monday warned about the consequences of not being allowed to profile to prevent terrorism.
“We’re allowing these people to come into our country and destroy our country and make it unsafe for people. We’re allowing these people to come in,” Trump said on “Fox & Friends.”
“We don’t want to do any profiling. If somebody looks like he’s got a massive bomb on his back, we won’t go up to that person … because, if he looks like he comes from that part of the world, we’re not allowed to profile. Give me a break.”
In June, the GOP nominee said the U.S. needs to start looking into the use of profiling to stop terrorism.
He said he doesn’t like the concept, but it may be necessary.
“Other countries do it. You look at Israel and you look at others, and they do it and they do it successfully,” he said during a June interview on CBS’s “Face The Nation.”
Trump: Hillary Clinton Wants to Abolish Borders She’s Supposed to Be Protecting
“Donald Trump blasted Hillary Clinton on Saturday at the Remembrance Project Annual Luncheon in Houston. The Republican told the crowd of grieving parents of children killed by illegal immigrants, Hillary Clinton wants to abolish the borders.
“Hillary Clinton is the person, and I mean the first person, to ever run for the presidency of a country effectively proposing to abolish the borders around the country that she’s supposed to be representing.”
Hillary supports the current open border system and wants to increase unvetted refugees into America. Hillary says she wants to“build bridges not walls” to immigrants.”
Twice Arrested Illegal Alien Kills Sheriff’s Deputy In Kansas DUI
– Daily Caller
“A twice-arrested illegal immigrant killed a Kansas sheriff’s deputy on Sunday, a source with knowledge of the case told The Daily Caller.
Adrian Espinosa-Flores, 38, was charged Monday with involuntary manslaughter and he allegedly was driving drunk and crashed his pickup truck into the patrol car stopped on the side of the road. The crash killed Johnson County (Kansas) Sheriff’s Department Master Deputy Brandon Collins, 45.
Espinosa-Flores was previously arrested for DUI in California in 2001 and a traffic violation in Overland Park, Kansas in 2013. ICE has said they were not notified of either of those arrests. Overland Park is located in Johnson County, which is a “sanctuary county,” according to the Center for Immigration Studies.
41 Action News reported that the Overland park police department that arrested him in 2013 said didn’t notify ICE because, “it could be considered profiling because a lot of people of all races are arrested without a proper ID.”
Wisconsin Woman and Son Accused of Stealing $3 Million in Food Stamps
“A Wisconsin woman and her son are accused of stealing $3 million in food stamps benefits from the federal government, according to court records.
Both Elham M. “Brenda” Abdul Rahim and Ahmad Zaki Abdul Rahim were indicted on a count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported, which carries a sentence of as many as 20 years in prison.
Elham Rahim was also indicted on counts of fraud and unauthorized use of food stamps, while Ahmad Rahim was indicted on a count of lying to investigators from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
“The Rahims used the store to exchange Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program cards for cash,” the indictment said.
The indictment also charged that they would swipe a SNAP debit card for a certain amount, give half the amount to the recipients, and keep the rest.
The store reportedly received $3 million more, through the scheme, than it was supposed to receive.
Ahmad Rahim was also charged with lying, as he allegedly told Department of Agriculture investigators that he was “100% certain” that no fraud had occurred. The indictment stated that this claim was false because he personally committed the fraud.”
O.C. Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Rape of Preteen Girl That Led to Pregnancy: DA’s Office
“A 40-year-old Santa Ana man accused of forcibly raping a preteen girl and getting her pregnant has become the first person to receive a life sentence in an Orange County sexual assault case, prosecutors announced Friday.
Demetrio Rojas Perez was convicted in June on four felony counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 and one felony count of forcible lewd acts on a child under 14, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.
The jury also found true sentencing enhancement allegations that the defendant inflicted bodily harm on a victim under the age of 14 and personally inflicted great bodily injury during the commission of the crime for which he was convicted.”
MS-13 gang member turned FBI informant describes life in the violent street gang
“Christian Lemus Cerna, an MS-13 gang member, allegedly set out into a wooded park in Fairfax County in May 2014 to find a pair of graves. With him was a local MS-13 leader, known as Junior, who wanted to spook some new recruits by showing them where the bodies of two wayward members were buried.
The previous October, Cerna’s clique had allegedly lured one member into the park, stabbed him to death, hacked his body up and buried him. Several months later, they did the same to another member who broke gang rules, according to prosecutors.
Junior asked Cerna, then an 18-year-old in high school, to show him the grave sites. Cerna obliged. The men walked in the park for half an hour before they came to the right spot. Cerna told Junior that he’d have to hold his nose. “That stuff is like a skunk,” he said.”
“The Department of Homeland Security is reportedly holding back a report that shows how many illegal aliens are successfully sneaking across the southern border. Lawmakers have been trying to pinpoint the number — which sources tell Fox News is approximately 250,000 — but DHS refuses to release the report it has had since November.
According to Fox’s sources, Border Patrol agents are only catching about 50 percent of the immigrants who illegally cross the border. DHS is citing “a misleading statistic that overstates the number who are nabbed.” That’s right. Once again, it appears (prepare to be shocked) that the most transparent administration in American history has been“cooking the books.”
Via Fox News:
The agency claims authorities catch 80 percent of adults trying to sneak in, but critics say the figure is padded to make it appear border security is more effective than it really is.
“The Obama administration knows that the number of illegal aliens successfully getting across the Mexican border is 158 percent higher than they are telling people,” said John Lott, president of the Crime Prevention Research Center, who is familiar with the report. “The administration has made fraudulent changes in the numbers to hide this.”
If released by the Obama administration, the true numbers could have major implications in the current presidential race, in which illegal immigration and border security have become a key issue, say observers.
One source familiar with the report told Fox News that DHS is suppressing the report for “political reasons . . . because it would ‘look bad’ and ‘help elect Donald Trump.”
Republican lawmakers are furious that the report they ordered is not being released.
“It erodes the trust as to whether the administration is being honest with the American people about what the threat is,” said Rep. Martha McSally, R-Ariz., who serves on the Committee on Homeland Security and chairs the Border and Maritime Security Subcommittee. “This should not be a partisan issue. Democrats, Independents and Republicans in my community want to make sure that border communities are safe.”
When Fox News requested a copy of the report, both DHS and the White House said it was still not finished, although sources familiar with the process tell Fox otherwise.”
REPORT: DHS Buried Damning Immigration Study Because It Would ‘Help Elect Donald Trump’
– Daily Caller
“The Department of Homeland Security is allegedly refusing to release the results of an immigration study that could “help elect Donald Trump.”
According to Fox News, the study was commissioned in 2015 by members of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees, “seeking to pinpoint the number of illegal immigrants who successfully sneak across the southern border.”
DHS claims that the study is still ongoing, yet sources close to the situation tell Fox News that it was actually completed in November 2015 and yielded results that would hurt the current administration’s immigration agenda.
Fox’s sources claim that the study showed that 50 percent of the adults attempting to illegally enter the United States at its southern border succeed, resulting in roughly 250,000 successful border crossings a year, and is being withheld for “political reasons.”
Tampa Man Asks Cousin If Bulletproof Vest Works ……..Cousin Finds Out By Shooting and Killing Man
“Joaquin Mendez, 23, has a cousin who is lethally literal. Alexandro Garibaldi, 24, (left) was with Mendez when his cousin asked whether a bulletproof vest he had put on “still worked.” Garibaldi allegedly responded by saying “Let’s see” and shooting his cousin who died from the fatal wounds.
Police however found Mendez outside without the bulletproof vest. Garibaldi claimed that he found his cousin with the wounds, but a witness implicated Garibaldi. The vest was found inside of the house.
Garibaldi is facing a manslaughter charge. He is likely to raise a novel defense that he lacked intent because he assumed that the vest would stop a bullet.
Obviously Garibaldi can also be sued for assault, battery and wrongful death. However, the more interesting question is whether the Mendez estate could sue the manufacturer of the vest for a product defect, including possible design, manufacturing or warning defects.”
Virginia’s Syrian Refugees Resettled In Poor Communities Hours Away From Wealthy Washington DC Suburbs
Unwelcome in the Beltway
“According to data from the U.S. State Department’s Refugee Processing Center, almost all of the Syrian refugees resettled in Virginia since October have been placed in towns with lower incomes and higher poverty rates, hours away from the wealthy suburbs outside of Washington, D.C.
Of the 121 Syrian refugees placed in Virginia so far, 112 have been placed in communities at least 100 miles away from the nation’s capital; 105 were placed in cities where median incomes fall below the state average.
The D.C. suburban counties of Fairfax, Loudoun and Arlington are all among the nation’s wealthiest and, according to U.S. census data, collectively have roughly 1.7 million residents. The three counties have resettled a grand total of nine Syrian refugees, all nine of whom were placed in the city of Falls Church.
The other 93 percent of Syrian refugees in Virginia were all placed at least 100 miles away from the nation’s legislators: Charlottesville (116.9 miles away, according to Google Maps), Harrisonburg (130 miles away), Newport News (171 miles away), Powhatan (137 miles away) and Roanoke (240 miles away) received the rest of the state’s Syrian refugees.
The federal government placed 21 Syrian refugees in the city of Roanoke (population 100,000), where the median household income ($39,530) falls well short of the statewide median ($64,792), according to U.S. Census data. Roanoke’s poverty rate, 21.9 percent, is almost double the state average of 11.8 percent. Despite having both fewer and poorer people than the wealthy suburbs outside the nation’s capital, Roanoke was tasked with resettling twice as many Syrian refugees.
Charlottesville (population 47,000) has a median household income ($47,218) — less than half Fairfax County’s median household income of $112,000. Charlottesville also has a poverty rate of 25.9 percent — more than double the statewide average. Charlottesville resettled three times the number of Syrian refugees as Fairfax, Loudoun and Arlington combined.
Newport News, a city of 182,00, has a median income ($51,000) — well below the state average. The federal government placed 51 Syrian refugees in Newport News.”
MS-13 Gang Members Convicted for Gruesome Murders in Virginia as Illegal Immigration Surge Continues
“Six MS-13 gang members were convicted for three grisly murders and another attempted murder on Monday and face mandatory life sentences.
Thirteen gang members were originally charged, and six took plea deals and testified against the others, while one will face a separate trial.
The Washington Post reports:
The case dates back to October 2013, when prosecutors said several of the defendants plotted to kill a member believed to be cooperating with police.
Authorities intercepted them in Woodbridge one night as they were driving to Gar-Field High School, where the member, known only as Peligroso, took night classes. They found two machetes and a sawed-off shotgun in their car.
A week later, gang members killed Nelson Omar Quintanilla Trujillo, who was suspected of alerting police to the failed murder plot, prosecutors said. After luring Trujillo into Holmes Run Park in Fairfax County, they stabbed him to death, dismembered him and buried him in the woods. Several months later, they stabbed and decapitated Gerson Adoni Martinez Aguilar, an MS-13 recruit who was accused of stealing gang money and having sex with an incarcerated member’s girlfriend. They buried him in the same park.
The third murder took place in June 2014, when Chavez and two other gang members shot and killed Julio Urrutia in Alexandria, mistaking him for a rival gang member, according to the prosecutors.
Northern Virginia residents treasure the Fall Church park where El Salvadorian gangbangers buried the dismembered bodies as “an island of tranquility.” The killers repeatedly bragged about the details of their murders to an informant, also an El Salvadorian immigrant (doing the jobs Americans just won’t do).
One of the defendants who pled guilty said he helped to kill each of the three victims and admitted in court he also murdered two others back in El Salvador. Whether or not he is an anchor baby or illegal alien is never stated by the Washington Post.
The Post also notes:
MS-13 has operated in the Washington region since the early 1990s and has between 2,000 and 3,000 members in the area, according to gang experts. An aggressive crackdown by the FBI and local police in the mid-2000s drove the gang underground for several years. But more recently, law enforcement experts say, MS-13 leaders in El Salvador have pressured cliques in the Washington [D.C.] region to rebuild. The effort has unleashed a new round of violence in the past three years, experts said.
It’s indisputable that mass Third World immigration is transforming Virginia. Without immigration from El Salvador, there would be no MS-13 in America; its founders fled an El Salvador conflict in the 1980s. As it stands, one-fifth of the population of El Salvador lives in the U.S. And as the Associated Press reported in 2014, “El Salvador is the top country of birth for immigrants to Virginia,” allowing Third World gang violence and chaos to expand into American parks and schools. The Obama administration’s policy of encouraging Central American illegal aliens to surge across the border by the hundreds of thousands and shipping them to unsuspecting American neighborhoods has only worsened such problems.”
