Study: Voters Turning to Internet for Election Information

“Voters are increasingly rejecting traditional methods of obtaining information such as radio and television and instead turning to the internet, research has shown.

The survey, which was commissioned by Google conducted in partnership by a Republican and Democratic research firm, found that internet media has become the most prominent source for people obtaining information on politics.

Robert Blizzard, the Republican researcher from Public Opinion Strategies, said “persuadable voters [are] now going to get their information less from TV, but really online.”

“In terms of TV, the percentage of Americans who are cutting the cord is obviously growing by the day,” Blizzard continued.

Traditional methods such as television still play a role in informing voters about politics, especially for hearing from candidates and “setting the tone for the race,” Blizzard added, but internet media such as news sites, fact checkers, and social media profiles are fast becoming the most effective method of communicating with undecided  voters.

“The notion that campaigns are trying to reach these late deciders, and they’re not getting their information from television, is significant,” said Julie Hootkin, who co-conducted the survey for Democratic party pollsters Global Strategy Group.

 The study surveyed 500 “persuadable voters” across swing states such as Florida, North Carolina, and New Hampshire between 13th – 18th October.”

The number of people watching TV is falling off a cliff

“It seems like people just aren’t watching TV anymore.

A report from Ad Age on Wednesday paints a bleak picture of Tuesday’s overnight TV ratings, which come during one of the industry’s most important weeks of the year as new shows are rolled out on the major networks.

Ad Age, citing figures from Nielsen, reported that every returning drama that aired Tuesday night saw viewers decline by double digits while debuts were a “mixed bag.”

But aside from the performance of individual shows, the number of people using TV in the coveted 18-to-49 demographic was down 8% against the same time last year, and for the first two nights this week usage is off 10%.

Ad Age also noted that among millennial consumers (18-to-24-year-olds), viewing is down 20% against last year, with 24% fewer men in this age group watching TV. The number of 18-to-34-year-old men watching TV is down 18% compared to the same period last year.

Over the summer, there was a broad concern regarding cable companies and a loss of subscribers to services like Netflix and Hulu.

And a report from Wall Street analysts over the summer said TV networks were stuffing their airwaves with commercials in an attempt to prop up revenue. That report said ratings were down 9% over the prior year through July with ad loads correspondingly increasing by 10%.”

Journalist Snowflakes Scared Trump Supporters Are ‘Turning on the Media’

“Triggered journalists from across the nation are bemoaning the treatment members of the press are receiving at Trump campaign rallies from the Trump supporters the media routinely misrepresents as ignorant racists, fascist Nazis, or disenchanted working whites.

With increasing regularity, these journalist snowflakes are “reporting” their victimization at the hands Trump supporters who chant mean things like, “CNN sucks” and call them names like “presstitutes.”

For members of the media elite, the occasional taunts and jeers signal a dangerous threat to the free press. During an interview with Kellyanne Conway on Tuesday, CNN’s Wolf Blitzer breathlessly asked Trump’s campaign manager to ask Trump to stop calling out the press at his rallies because he is scared “there could be an ugly incident” between Trump supporters and the “hardworking young journalists” who cover his rallies.

A quick review of media stories over the last two weeks reveals more than a dozen articles in major publications with the same “journalists victimized by Trump supporters at rallies” narrative. Trump supporters endure long waits, messy parking, and often obstructed view seating to rally for their candidate. The press, on the other hand, is given their own entrance, sectioned off seating, and protection from event security and the Secret Service.

After an exhaustive search, this Breitbart reporter could find exactly zero incidences of members of the media being physically attacked or assaulted at Trump rallies. None of this has stopped the misleading characterization of Trump supporters creating a “menacing” and “dangerous” environment for these special snowflakes.”
