Elizabeth Warren SLAMS Hillary Clinton Over Wall Street Bankruptcy Bill | 2004
– Elizabeth Warren relates a story in which she got Hillary Clinton to understand a bankruptcy bill proposed in the Senate. The bill which constricted the ability of families to declare bankruptcy. The credit card companies who stood to gain from millions threw tens of millions at their lobbying effort according to Warren.
After getting her to understand the ramifications of the bill on middle class families and women, Hillary mustered the Clinton Adminstration to oppose and defeat the bill. However, later as Senator Hillary Clinton, beholden to special interests who still stood to gain, Hillary voted in favor of it, after lying to Warren about her support.
Clinton Foundation Got $100 Million Donation From ‘Blood Minerals’ Firm
“A little known Swedish-Canadian oil and mining conglomerate human rights groups have repeatedly charged produces “blood minerals” is among the Clinton Foundation’s biggest donors, thanks to a $100 million pledge in 2007, a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation has found.
“Blood minerals” are related to “blood diamonds,” which are allegedly mined in war zones or sold as commodities to help finance political insurgencies or despotic warlords.
When the Vancouver, Canada-based Lundin Group gave its $100 million commitment to the “Clinton Giustra Sustainable Growth Initiative,” the company had long been cutting deals with warlords, Marxist rebels, military strongmen and dictatorships in the war-torn African countries of Congo, Sudan and Ethiopia.
Lundin promoted its reputation as a fierce, hard-driving company. Adolf Lundin, who founded the company, audaciously traveled to the French home of Congo dictator Mobutu Sese Seko in 1996 to secure mining rights for his company. A few years later, Lundin admitted he had offered a “donation” to Mobutu’s “elections campaign,” but later said he never gave the funds.
The Lundin Group reportedly cut a deal in 1997 with Congolese Marxist warlord Laurent Kabila, with a $50 million down payment toward $250 million they would give to the rebels in exchange for mining rights, according to according to U.N. Inspector Jason K. Stearns. Lundin eventually won majority rights to one of the country’s richest mineral veins.
It wasn’t the first time Clinton consorted with mining moguls. In the waning hours of his presidency in 2001, Clinton pardoned Glencore International mining and oil magnate Marc Rich after his wife, Denise, made generous donations to the Democratic Party, Hillary Clinton’s Senate campaign and his Clinton Library.
Clinton’s pardon erased a 65-count indictment against Rich for trading with Iran against the oil embargo. Rich did the Iranian oil sales while Americans were held captive in the country by the Mullahs.
Rep. Joe Pitts, a Pennsylvania Republican who co-chairs the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission, told TheDCNF that “areas with high conflict over minerals are breeding grounds for human rights abuses on a massive scale, and when entities like the Clintons’ Foundation accept donations from these corrupt actors, they are sanctioning the exploitation.”
Swedish foreign minister Anna Lindh reflected her government’s regret over the Swedish company in April, 2001, saying, “Lundin Oil activities are negative for Sweden.” She added, “we expect Swedish companies to respect an ethical code in line with human rights and the environment in which they operate abroad.”
Although then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton visited the Congo in 2009, she unexpectedly delayed implementation of a landmark “certification” program designed to assure human rights were respected by mining companies like Lundin in Africa.
The certification process was passed under the Dodd-Frank Act. Her failure to act was criticized at the time by John Prendergast, president of “Enough.org,” a nongovernmental organization which championed the “blood minerals” legislation.”

JOKES during statement on Munich carnage as he shifts gears to say he’ll miss daughter Malia when she leaves the nest for college
– DailyMail UK
“As news reports of a gun massacre in Munich crossed the Atlantic Ocean on Friday, the President of the United States was cracking jokes.
Barack Obama delivered a brief update to reporters at the White House about the still-unfolding shooting rampage that left the German city on lockdown.
Eight are confirmed dead, and 10 injured.
The president was speaking to law enforcement agents at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, adjacent to the White House.
But as cameras rolled on the somber moment, Obama grinned and chuckled – and drew laughs from his audience – about his elder daughter Malia leaving the nest and heading for college.
‘Some of you are aware there were shootings in Germany. And we don’t yet know exactly what’s happening there, but obviously our hearts go out to those who may have been injured,’ the president said.
‘It’s still an active situation and Germany’s one of our closest allies. So we are going to pledge all the support they may need in dealing with these circumstances.’
After a pause, he reflected on the impact of the potentially terror-related attacks, and others like it, on Americans.
‘It’s a good reminder of something that I’ve said over the last couple of weeks,’ Obama said, launching into a list of ordinary daily-life activities that are threatened in the absence of good police and intelligence work.
‘Our way of life, our freedoms,’ he said, ‘our ability to go about our business every day, raising our kids’ – and suddenly the president’s mood shifted.
‘And seeing them grow up and graduate from high school, and now about to leave their dad,’ he continued, waving his hand and breaking the tension as the room erupted in laughter.
‘I’m sorry. I’m getting a little too personal. Getting a little too personal there,’ he said.
Obama then returned to the gravity he had discarded just moments before.”
Snowden gives support to Oliver Stone film after screening
– Herald Review
“SAN DIEGO (AP) — Edward Snowden says that Oliver Stone’s dramatization of his story is a “pretty accurate portrayal.”
Snowden appeared live from Moscow via Google Hangouts Thursday night at Comic-Con following the first public screening of Stone’s film, “Snowden,” to answer audience questions and interact with the cast, including star Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Speaking to a small audience comprised mostly of journalists, Snowden said there wasn’t a lot of fictionalization in the film, which chronicles his life from 2004 to 2013, when he leaked classified security documents to the press.
“I don’t think anybody looks forward to having a movie made about themselves, particularly someone who is a privacy advocate,” Snowden laughed, but said that there was a “kind of magic” to the film and its potential ability to reach a large audience through narrative storytelling.
“I’m not an actor. I don’t think anyone in politics is really charismatic enough to connect with people on issues that are so abstract,” Snowden said. “But (actors) can reach new audiences in new ways and get people talking about things that they don’t have time to read (or) to look for in the academic setting. By watching the lived experiences … and tying it back in that magic Oliver Stone moment, it was something that made me really nervous but I think it worked.”
Gordon-Levitt said Snowden’s public endorsement “means a lot.”
Snowden also appears in the film as himself at the very end. While his demeanor in interviews is calm and composed, Stone found his acting to be less than natural.
“We did nine takes from several angles,” Stone said, half laughing. “We got there eventually but it was a painful day.”
In addition to looking at some of Snowden’s mentors throughout his career, the film heavily focuses in on his relationship with girlfriend Lindsay Mills. Shailene Woodley plays Mills, who Stone said was represented poorly by the press.
“I think the media was very unfair to Lindsay at the time and treated her in a very condescending way,” he said. He hopes that the film helps to redeem her in the public eye.
Out of necessity, the film takes some liberties with facts that aren’t in the public record yet, including the pivotal moment when Snowden smuggles the classified files out of the NSA. Without spoiling how the filmmakers chose to dramatize that scene, Stone did reveal that it was actually Snowden’s idea.”
U.S. Spends More on Medical Care for Inmates than Seniors, Veterans, Military Personnel
– Judicial Watch
“President Obama has repeatedly demonstrated that there’s an extra special place in his heart for incarcerated criminals, but this is a bit much. The administration spends a lot more money on the medical care of jailed convicts than retired seniors on Medicare, active U.S. military personnel or veterans, including an extra $100 million in one year alone, according to a federal audit released this month.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) consistently pays outside doctors and hospitals more to treat inmates than Medicare or other federal agencies would pay for the same services, according to the report which is the result of a Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General investigation. “We found that the BOP is the only federal agency that pays for medical care that is not covered under a statute or regulation under which the government sets the agency’s reimbursement rates, usually at the Medicare rate,” the report states. “Instead, the BOP solicits and awards a comprehensive medical services contract for each BOP institution to obtain outside medical services.”
The BOP claims its medical needs are more complex than other agencies because it provides chronic care for numerous inmates. Because medical providers have the choice not to treat inmates, the agency claims that it must pay extra. That still doesn’t explain why the government spends more money on the medical care of incarcerated criminals than active military personnel, veterans or senior citizens. Just because this information is out in the open doesn’t necessarily mean anything will happen to correct the problem, which is par for the course in government. The agency watchdog suggests convening a “working group” to find ways for the BOP to manage its medical costs and recommends that the agency improve the collection and analysis of data for inmate medical care. This will buy time, but it’s unlikely to result in any concrete action to cut the waste.
In the meantime federal inmates will continue to receive special treatment as long as Obama lives in the White House. Obama is the first sitting president to visit a federal prison and meet with inmates as part of his criminal justice reform movement. In 2010 the commander-in-chief proudly signed a law that, for the first time in decades, relaxed drug-crime sentences he claimed discriminated against minority offenders. Last year the administration released thousands of drug convicts from federal prisons around the country whose sentences were too long. In the aftermath of that mass release, the administration has spent huge amounts of taxpayer funds to help the prematurely discharged convicts reintegrate into society. This includes housing and job programs.”
WASHINGTON — Sex reassignment surgeries might soon be covered by the Department of Veterans Affairs. The VA has proposed lifting its ban on the medical procedures, which treat a condition called gender dysphoria and allow a man to live as a woman or vice versa.
The department recently posted a notice and requested public comment on the White House’s Office of Management and Budget website.
VA’s effort to cover the transition-related surgeries comes as the military prepares to allow transgender troops to serve openly and President Barack Obama’s administration wrangles with states over the rights of transgender people to use the restrooms of the their choice.
The VA says the surgical procedures were not deemed to be “medically necessary” in the past and there were questions over their safety and effectiveness.”
