Power outage hit San Onofre nuclear plant on Wednesday || OC Register

Backup systems worked to continue cooling spent fuel, officials said
Electricity is essential to circulate water around the hot waste in San Onofre’s spent fuel pools

“Backup generators rumbled to life at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station on Wednesday, Jan. 29, when an issue with transmission lines feeding the plant caused a 44-minute power outage, operator Southern California Edison said.

Electricity is essential to circulate water around the hot waste in San Onofre’s spent fuel pools — one of the reasons officials are eager to move all waste into dry storage as soon as possible. Dry storage requires no electricity. All waste is slated to be in dry storage later this year.

Power, perhaps provided by plant part-owner San Diego Gas & Electric, cut out at 5:05 p.m. and was restored by 6 p.m., said Edison spokesman John Dobken. Workers followed procedures and were continuing to restore plant systems into the night.

Diesel generators and other equipment responded as designed “and at no time was there any public impact,” said Edison in a statement.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission office was notified. The cause of the outage is still being investigated.”

Politico Goes After Joe Biden Over Family Financial Scandals || Jan 29 2020

Lobbyist bought tropical land from Biden’s brother || Politico

Scott Green, a lobbyist with close ties to Joe Biden, purchased Virgin Islands property from James Biden and then extended him a private mortgage.

“In 2005, Joe Biden’s brother bought an acre of land with excellent ocean views on a remote island in the Caribbean for $150,000. He divided it into three parcels, and the next year a lobbyist close to the Delaware senator bought one of the parcels for what had been the cost of the entire property. Later, the lobbyist gave Biden’s brother a mortgage loan on the remaining parcels.

The Virgin Islands land deal, reported here for the first time, furthers a pattern in which members of the Biden family have engaged in financial dealings with people with an interest in influencing the former vice president.

In this case, a Biden staffer left the Senate in the early ’90s to become a lobbyist. Both before and after the land transaction, his clients benefited from Biden’s support and appropriations requests. A firm the lobbyist co-founded — which features a testimonial from Biden praising his “emotional investment” in his work on its website — specializes in federal contracts for niche law enforcement and national security programs for which Biden long advocated.”

– A lot to unpack, but a legal case has a lot of facts to follow. It’s not simple, criminals make it complicated on purpose. The president had everyone reason to look into corruption, extortion and bribery in a foreign country. Rudy has the docs and the facts.

Giuliani’s critics argue Rudy crossed a few lines in gathering evidence, seriously? Giuliani is a former Federal Prosecutor from New York City, seriously you think he would cross legal red lines?
