Hillary’s ‘apology’

– Washington Post

This is not an apology:

“But even her advisers did not try to defend the reference, and by 5 p.m. she had apologized.

“Earlier today I was discussing the Democratic primary history, and in the course of that discussion mentioned the campaigns that both my husband and Senator Kennedy waged in California in June 1992 and 1968 and I was referencing those to make the point that we have had nomination primary contests that go into June,” Clinton said.

“That’s a historic fact. The Kennedys have been much on my mind the last days because of Senator [Edward] Kennedy and I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation, and particularly for the Kennedy family was in any way offensive. I certainly had no intention of that, whatsoever. My view is that we have to look to the past and to our leaders who have inspired us and give us a lot to live up to, and I’m honored to hold Senator [Robert] Kennedy’s seat in the United States Senate from the state of New York and have the highest regard for the entire Kennedy family.”

Why Does This Crucial Line of Trump’s Second Amendment Flap Keep Getting Edited Out?

– Mediaite

By now we’ve all heard the sound bite ad nauseam. Speaking to a crowd yesterday in Wilmington, NC, Republican nominee Donald Trump said the following:

By the way, and if she gets to pick –if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know.

People everywhere freaked out over the comment; Trump’s camp (and the NRA) immediately went on the defensive, offering clarifications, while Hillary Clinton‘s people decried it within moments as the latest invocation of violence from an unstable candidate. Pundits and prognosticators got their biggest storyline for the week, and as of this writing, all main three networks have covered the story in the last several minutes.

But there’s a curious edit that was often made by the networks when the moment in question was replayed over and over again — it stops after the words, “I don’t know.”

– Here is the video segment unedited in its entirety from C-SPAN:

Official: Secret Service did not have any Discussions with Trump on 2nd Amendment Remark about Hillary

– Newsmax

“A federal official on Wednesday denied a news report that the U.S. Secret Service had formally spoken with Republican Donald Trump’s presidential campaign regarding his suggestion a day earlier that gun rights activists could stop Democratic rival Hillary Clinton from curtailing their access to firearms.

Pushing back against a CNN report that the law enforcement agency had had “more than one” exchange with the Trump camp about the remark, an official familiar with the matter told Reuters there had been no formal conversations with the campaign regarding the comment made to supporters the day before.”
