U.S. launches ISIS airstrikes in Libya

“U.S. forces have begun a series of “precision airstrikes” against the Islamic State’s main branch in Libya, the Pentagon said Monday, signaling an expansion of American military action against the group, whose footprint has spread into North Africa over the past year.

The strikes, which have been anticipated for weeks, were conducted at the request of officials from Libya’s shaky U.N.-backed government, Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook said in a statement.

While no details were provided on the types of aircraft or missiles used, the statement said the strikes aimed to bolster forces aligned with the so-called Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA).

 The GNA forces have been struggling for weeks retake territory from the Islamic State — also known as ISIS, ISIL and Daesh — in the northern Libyan city of Sirte, along the Mediterranean coast.”

– Hillary Clinton owns this continuing failure in Libya. If the failures of Libya don’t reveal the potential catastrophe of a new Clinton presidency, nothing will.

The Nobel Peace Prize winner Obama is escalating yet another war we cannot afford. Has Obama gone to the American people to propose this new escalation? As with most of his unpopular transformational agenda, the answer is a resounding no.
